SAHAJA SEEDS - is the market image of Desi Seed Producer Company Limited registered under the Companies Act with its registered office at Bangalore, Karnataka.  This collective comprises of organic producers, seed savers, farmer breeders, gardeners, urban consumers and like-minded individuals spread across the country. Our mission is to conserve, propagate and promote indigenous plant genetic dversity - in form of seeds, fresh organic farm produce's & value-added products derived only from indigenous seeds. We hard work on bridging the gap between the farmers and the market, putting concerted efforts on increasing the per capita income of small/marginal farmers through sustainable agricultural practices using farm saved/bred potential traditional crops adapted to varied agro-climatic conditions over generations.

 

 

Present rural business climate is fully dependant on external market (overseas) atrracted towards selected resource-intensive cash crops, forfeiting to secure the purity of traditional agro-biodiversity and nutritional security of the people. So we emphasis on farm diverisifcation, multi-cropping, traditional cropping patterns, farmer breeding, selection of potential indigenous crop varieties through elaborate research studies and market creation for achieving sustainable farm livelihood standards. Above all, we revere our tradition and cultural richness when safeguarding our traditional crop diversity passed on to us by generations with an openess for innovation without inflicting the environment in due course.

Our ultimate goal is - to make farmers accessible, aware, self-reliant and succesful. Our product range is wide and trendy, starting from organic indigenous food, fodder & fiber seeds, organic farm produces, indigenous organic cotton clothing, crafts and garden utilities, all that we deal with are derived from traditional landraces produced in organic farms by skilled producers, seed savers, breeders, craftsmen, weavers who stand as a beacon for all those who interested to take a plunge in to sustainable agriculture through indigenous seeds.

Organically Grown:  Our mission is  to  grow using  sustainable agricultural practices, starting with the seed, where it all begins. We nurture our crops by building rich, healthy soil that encourages all beneficial organisms. We declare use of DNA modified crops, irradiation, sewage sludge or synthetic agrochemicals as non-organic agricultural system that has wreaked havoc on people, planet and our economy.
 

ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS CONSUMERS
Open Pollinated: Our seed is open pollinated (OP), which means that saved seed will breed true to type and our farmers have direct access and control of their seed supply. In contrast, F-1 hybrid and GMO varieties are impossible for farmers to reproduce, leaving them dependent on seed companies for new seed. OP varieties are reproduced through natural pollination via wind or insects.

SUSTAINABLE ACCESS TO RESOURCE
Open Source System: We are foremost organic seed producers, out to save organic seed and we want you to do it, too. So all our seeds are traditional (un-notified/certified) varieties selected over a period of time by farmers for its productivity and adaptability to varying climatic conditions.. But these varieties have seen a stark decrease during the past few decades due to monocultures of resource-intensive crops vulnerable to small/marginal farm livelihoods. .

A cloud-solution for ensuring the nutritional security and equitable beneft sharing between the farm livelihoods - we're putting all of our native seeds collected from different regions of our country in an open source system for our the people to access, reproduce and improve, regionally adaptive climate change (CC)-resilient varieties.
